One of my earliest memories was riding in the car with my mom in 1972. I was too little to see out the window, but I could see tree tops passing by while 55 KTSA was on the radio. Whenever Saturday In The Park comes on, I picture those tree tops in my mind. I grew up listening to those San Antonio DJ’s: Bruce Hathaway, Ricci Ware, Charlie Brown and on Sunday mornings, mom would get us kids ready for church while Casey Kasem was live with this week’s countdown on that white GE radio in the bathroom. That radio eventually ended up in my bedroom where I would stay up late listening to music and Dallas Cowboy broadcasts. I started my radio career in Lufkin, working at KYKS, with none other than Steve Rixx! I then moved to KSWP and KAVX and enjoyed seeing them become nationally recognized ministries. KAVX was named NRB Station of the Year in 2004. My first Program Director role was at KVTT Dallas, where I also co-hosted the morning show Tom Dooley. I then moved to the Texas Hill Country working at Classic Hits KITY-FM in Llano/Marble Falls/Fredericksburg. In 2014, we moved back to East Texas and Huntsville. I host the Big Hits Morning Show weekday mornings from 6:00 am-10:00am on 104.9/94.1 The Hits and the 10:00am-2:00pm show on 101.7 KSAM. As a lover of Texas History, I have taken advantage of the wonderful resources here in Huntsville. I can spend hours and hours at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, perusing the paintings and exhibits and letting my imagination travel back to the 1800’s. My GGGreat Grandfather John Jack Hobson fought at San Jacinto and is depicted in the painting The Surrender of Santa Anna. He’s the guy with his arm in the sling.
Judy and I will celebrate our 31st anniversary this year. We have four awesome kids: Matthew is serving with the Texas Army National Guard, Joella and Amanda are both working and going to school in the DFW metroplex and our youngest, Andrew graduated from Huntsville High School in 2017 and is serving in the Marine Corp in North Carolina.
