Tonight at 7, the Trinity County Patriots will hold a Meet and Greet for the runoff candidates in the 258th District Judge Race between John Wells and Travis Kitchens. It will be held at the Martin Senior Center at 400 Walker Street in Trinity. There will be fellowship and snacks at 6 PM.
In Huntsville Police news, on the night shift Sunday Charles Johnson was arrested for evading with a vehicle, evading on foot, burglary of a residence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle at the 114 mile-marker on I-45. Teah Langley was cited for theft in the 1700 block of 11th Street.
On the day shift Monday, an unknown suspect forced entry into a coin-operated machine and stole money in the 1900 block of American Legion Drive. Police were dispatched to the site of criminal mischief in the 100 block of Briarwood Drive. A theft was reported in the 2100 block of Bush Drive.
On the night shift Monday, Jeramie Garrett was arrested for evading with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, evading on foot and resisting arrest on Thomason Street and MLK Drive. He was also arrested for DWI.
Huntsville PD Officer Ryann Kaaa-Bauer informs us that this Saturday the department will be hosting another National Drug Take Back Day . . . .
Beginning today, April 25, 2018, (weather permitting) the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will begin mill and inlay work on SH 75 in New Waverly, from FM 1375 to SH 150. Motorists who travel this area should expect delays, obey all traffic control and law enforcement in the area. The contractor plans to work for the majority of daylight hours, but will utilize a traffic control plan that avoids closing lanes when possible. This work is anticipated to take one week to complete.
This mill and inlay work on SH 75 is contracted to Corner Stone Paving out of Brenham, Texas. TxDOT and their contractor appreciate everyone’s patience during this construction.

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron faced reporters at a joint news conference at the White House Tuesday.
One of the many issues Trump and Macron discussed focused on two areas of international concern—keeping ISIS out of Syria and the Iran Nuclear Deal.
It appears the president and Macron are looking at the two issues in combination—on when the U-S will pull our troops out of Syria, and will the U-S continue the Iranian Nuke Deal? Trump and Macron appear to be negotiating how these matters will be settled. President Trump has been wanting to pull out of Syria and was very skeptical of the Iran deal in the first place . . . .

Friday at the State Department, Acting Secretary of State John Sullivan released the 2017 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. The list of the “Countries of Most Concern” include Syria, Burma, North Korea, Iran, Turkey, Venezuela and Russia.

The Huntsville Item reports that a Houston man has been been arrested in connection with the murder of another man from the Houston area whose body was discovered in a vehicle that was on fire in northern Walker County in March.
The suspect is 20-year-old Wilver Antonio Laienez Flores. Flores has been charged with the murder of 40-year-old Juan Carlos Gomez Cedillos. Flores is being held on $1 million dollars bond in the Walker County Jail.
Law enforcement authorities believe the crime is a gang-related murder.
