City Spotlight TV Begins Airing For Spring Semester

“City Spotlight,” Sam Houston State University’s student-produced television show that focuses on people, places and events in Huntsville, on campus and around Walker County, will begin airing for the spring semester on KSHU-TV, Channel 7, today at 4 p.m. Each week, the show will be re-broadcast on Wednesday, Friday, and Monday at the same time.read more »

English Course Orientation At Library

The Huntsville Public Library will host English as a Second Language Orientations from noon to 4 PM today and from noon to 4 PM on April 5th. It appears a “serial bomber” is involved in four explosions in Austin recently. According to officials, the most recent explosion injured two people on Sunday night after a bomb was detonated when the victims crossed a trip wire. Storm Damage Update

A story from KBTX Channel 3 reports that Walker County Emergency Management reports that “more than 50 homes were reported damaged by uprooted trees, wind and fallen power lines” in Walker County. Riverside was hit hard. Downed trees blocked several area roads. Crews throughout the County worked to clear the debris.read more »

Mid-South Synergy Outages

Mid-South Synergy reports that the severe storm of March 18th caused extensive damage to their distribution system. Crews have been working on the situation. Commissioners’ Court Allows Wireless Internet Installation For Texas AG

In Commissioners’ Court Monday afternoon, commissioners discussed a request from the Texas Attorney General’s Office regarding installing a circuit network with equipment and wireless internet which would allow their staff to access the internet while working in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Texas Bullet Train Update

Efforts are still underway regarding the proposed Texas Central Bullet Train to run between Houston and Dallas. The train will not be going through Walker County.
