TUESDAY 10/08/19 – VARSITY HORNETS OFF FRIDAY NIGHT

MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL WILL FORFEIT THIS FRIDAY’S GAME TO THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS FOLLOWING AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE “POSSIBLE ASSAULT” OF A MONTGOMERY ISD STUDENT BY MULTIPLE OTHER STUDENTS.  IN A STATEMENT FROM MONTGOMERY I-S-D, THE DISTRICT’S POLICE DEPARTMENT HAD COMPLETED THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO THE ALLEGED HAZING INCIDENT, AND TURNED OVER ALL INFORMATION TO THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT.  MCSO LT. SCOTT SPENCER SAID ONCE THEIR INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE, IT WOULD TURN ITS RESULTS OVER TO THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE AND THE COUNTY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE.

THE VARSITY GAME BETWEEN THE HORNETS AND BEARS IS CANCELLED, WHILE THE FRESHMAN AND JUNIOR VARSITY GAMES WILL PLAY AS SCHEDULED.  THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS VARSITY TEAM WILL NEXT TAKE THE FIELD FOR THEIR HOMECOMING GAME AGAINST LAMAR CONSOLIDATED, OCTOBER 18TH.

ON THE VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE TONIGHT, IT’S THE PINK OUT GAME AT PAUL BOHAN HORNET GYM BETWEEN THE LADY HORNETS AND PORTER AT 6:00…AND THE WILLIS LADY KATS TRAVEL TO GRAND OAKS FOR A 6:00 GAME.

THE TAMPA BAY RAYS SCORED A FRANCHISE RECORD FOUR HOME RUNS, TO BEAT THE ASTROS LAST NIGHT, 10-3, AND STAY ALIVE FOR GAME 4 TONIGHT IN FLORIDA.  A-J HINCH ANNOUNCED THAT HOUSTON WILL START JUSTIN VERLANDER TONIGHT.

MEANWHILE IN MINNEAPOLIS, THE OTHER A-L-D-S CAME TO AN END LAST NIGHT WITH THE YANKEES SWEEPING THE TWINS WITH THEIR 5-1 WIN. THE YANKEES WILL NOW COOL THEIR HEELS AS THEY AWAIT EITHER THE ASTROS OR RAYS.

ON THE NATIONAL LEAGUE SIDE, EVERYONE IS TIED UP AT 2-GAMES A PIECE:  THE CARDINALS BEAT THE BRAVES IN 10 INNINGS, 5-4…AND THE NATIONALS RAN AWAY FROM THE DODGERS, 6-1.  THE FIFTH AND DECIDING GAMES WILL BOTH PLAY TOMORROW.
