THE BEARKATS OPENED UP THE FINAL HOME SERIES OF THE REGULAR SEASON YESTERDAY AGAINST NORTHWESTERN STATE, WINNING 11-5.  THE KATS WILL WRAP UP THE REGULAR SEASON TODAY WITH A DOUBLEHEADER AT DON SANDERS STADIUM, WITH THE FIRST GAME SET FOR 2:00 P.M. AND THE SECOND AT 7:00 P.M. SENIOR DAY ACTIVITIES WILL OCCUR AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30, PRIOR TO GAME 2. THE KATS NEED JUST ONE MORE WIN TO CLINCH AT LEAST A SHARE OF THEIR THIRD SLC TITLE IN FOUR YEARS, WHILE A SWEEP OF THE DOUBLEHEADER WOULD CLINCH THE CROWN OUTRIGHT.  THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT BEGINS ON WEDNESDAY FROM SUGARLAND.  101.7 KSAM WILL BROADCAST ALL BEARKAT GAMES LIVE.

THE SAM HOUSTON STATE SOFTBALL TEAM WILL FACE TEXAS TODAY TO OPEN THE AUSTIN REGIONAL OF THE NCAA TOURNAMENT IN AUSTIN.  THE BEARKATS AND THE NO. 9 NATIONAL-SEEDED LONGHORNS WILL PLAY AT 4 P.M. THE GAME WILL BE AIRED ON THE LONGHORN NETWORK AND STREAMED AT GO-BEARKATS.COM.

GOLDEN STATE RALLIED FROM A 15-POINT HALFTIME DEFICIT LAST NIGHT TO HOLD OFF THE TRAILBLAZERS, 114-111, AND TAKE A 2-0 LEAD IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS. GAME THREE SHIFTS TO PORTLAND ON SATURDAY.  GAME TWO OF THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINAL IS IN MILWAUKEE TONIGHT AT 7:30, ON T-N-T.

IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL YESTERDAY, THE TEXAS RANGERS EXPLODED ALL OVER KANSAS CITY WITH 5 HOME RUNS ON THEIR WAY TO A 16-1 ROUT OF THE ROYALS.  THE RANGERS ARE BACK IN ARLINGTON FOR A 7:05 HOME GAME AGAINST ST. LOUIS.  THE ASTROS WILL SPEND THE WEEKEND IN MASSACHUSETTS, STARTING AT 6:05 THIS EVENING AGAINST THE RED SOX.
