CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT

The Huntsville City Council will have a regular session at six this evening at City Hall.

Previous to the session, at 5 o’clock they will have a workshop to discuss possible areas for annexation.

At tonight’s Main Session, there will be a status update by the City Attorney, staff and/or outside counsel on the progress to address pavement issues at the City of Huntsville Transfer Station.

Councilmembers will hear proclamations on Fair Housing Month, Public Safety Telecommunications Week and Safe Digging Month.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes a “Second Reading” adopting the City of Huntsville Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan, and a “Second Reading” of an ordinance amending the City of Huntsville Development Code.

On their regular agenda tonight, councilmembers will entertain a “First Reading” of an ordinance suspending the Gas Reliability Infrastructure Program, or GRIP rates, proposed by Centerpoint Energy and a “First Reading” of and ordinance denying the distribution cost recovery factor increase request of Entergy Texas.

Councilmembers will review “Items of Community Interest.”

In closed Executive Session, councilmembers will receive legal advice on the City of Huntsville Transfer Station facility and deliberate regarding economic negotiations on a project they are considering.

They will reconvene in Open Session and take action on items discussed, if needed.
