IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL TODAY, DON SANDERS STADIUM WILL BE THE SITE OF A BIG NON-CONFERENCE GAME BETWEEN THE SHSU BEARKATS & THE BAYLOR BEARS. GAME TIME IS SET FOR 6:30PM. ON MONDAY, THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED SHSU FRESHMAN COLTON COWSER HAS BEEN NAMED THE LEAGUE’S HITTER OF THE WEEK. THE CYPRESS RANCH PRODUCT BECOMES THE 3RD BEARKAT HITTER TO CLAIM THE HONOR THIS SEASON.

IN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS WILL BE AT WILLIS AT 7PM, THE NEW WAVERLY BULLDOGS WILL BE ON THE ROAD AT COLDSPRING AT 7, AND THE LIONS OF ALPHA OMEGA WILL HOST GALVESTON O’CONNELL AT 4PM.

IN SOFTBALL TODAY, THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS WILL BE AT HOME AGAINST MONTGOMERY LAKE CREEK BEGINNING AT 7:30PM AT KATE BARR ROSS PARK WHILE THE NEW WAVERLY LADY ‘DOGS WILL BE AT COLDSPRING AT 6PM AND ALPHA OMEGA’S LADY LIONS WILL HOST THE WOODLANDS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY TODAY AT 4:30PM.

IN HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS WILL HOST LAKE CREEK AT 7:30PM AT HORNET FIELD NEXT TO HUNTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, WHILE THE LADY HORNETS WILL BE AT LAKE CREEK IN MONTGOMERY AT 7:30PM.

IN COLLEGIATE GOLF, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN LEAD THE FIELD BY A STROKE AFTER THE 1ST 2 ROUNDS OF THE HBU HUSKY INVITATIONAL IN HOUSTON. SAM HOUSTON’S JENNA PHILLIPS IS THE INDIVIDUAL LEADER, FOLLOWED BY TEAMMATE HANNA ALBERTO WHO IS 2 STROKES BACK. THE FINAL ROUND IS SET FOR TODAY AT RIVERBEND GOLF CLUB.

IN COLLEGIATE TENNIS, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN PICKED UP A 5-1 VICTORY OVER UT-EL PASO MONDAY AFTERNOON AT THE WALDEN TENNIS COMPLEX ON LAKE CONROE. THE WIN THE TEAM’S FINAL NON-CONFERENCE MATCH OF THE SEASON GIVES THE KATS 10 WINS ON THE SEASON, WHICH MARKS THE 1ST TIME SINCE 2007 THAT SAM HOUSTON HAS REACHED DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS IN CONSECUTIVE SEASONS.

IN COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL, BAYLOR HAS BEEN NAMED THE TOP SEED IN THE NCAA WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT WHICH BEGINS THIS WEEKEND. SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE CHAMPION ABILENE CHRISTIAN WILL BE THE BEARS’ 1ST ROUND FOE IN WACO.

IN THE NBA ON MONDAY, DIRK NOWITZKI CLAIMED THE NO. 6 SPOT ON THE LEAGUE’S ALL-TIME SCORING LIST, PASSING WILT CHAMBERLAIN. NOWITZKI IS IN HIS 21 SEASON – ALL WITH DALLAS – HOWEVER HIS PERFORMANCE ON MONDAY WASN’T ENOUGH FOR THE MAVS, AS DALLAS LOST 129-125 IN OVERTIME AGAINST NEW ORLEANS. ALSO ON MONDAY, SAN ANTONIO OUTLASTED GOLDEN STATE 111-105. LATER TODAY, THE HOUSTON ROCKETS WILL BE AT ATLANTA AT 6:30PM ON AT&T SPORTSNET SOUTHWEST.
